Rapid Prototyping: Progress Through Precision
In late 2024, we began working with the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) to initiate the 3D printing of ForgetSPECS sample components.
The objective was to test new design iterations prior to investing in the manufacture of new moulds - a critical step in advancing towards our commercially viable prototype.
This approach, known as Rapid Prototyping, accelerates testing and refinement. Our product was selected as part of their internal testing and R&D process, allowing both teams to push the capabilities of this advanced fabrication technology.
After several months of iterative refinement, the first viable test sample - a 1cm x 1cm nanostructured piece - was successfully produced. While small in scale, this sample marks a meaningful step toward validating material performance and production feasibility.
We are now currently testing this sample and will continue iterating until we reach what we define as the “Golden Sample” - our benchmark for commercial production and product readiness.
This is a meticulous process, but each milestone moves us closer to delivering a world-first product that changes how people see their screens - without glasses.
